Publisher Luke Thomas launched FogCityJournal.com on September 24, 2006, an online news organization committed to delivering coverage of news and politics in San Francisco and the greater Bay Area, with a focus on local issues that have a broader impact, and broader issues that have a local impact.

Thomas, a former computer consultant from England, was naturalized a U.S. citizen on September 11, 2001.

With the decline of the newspaper industry, FCJ is committed to covering issues that the mainstream media tends to ignore or overlook. FCJ’s contributors are dedicated, non-salaried citizen journalists who contribute their time and skills to help advance community social awareness on issues that are critical to social justice and advancement.

We are proponents of free speech in all its varied forms and welcome all political voices for the benefit of discussion and readership consideration.

FCJ is committed to campaign finance reforms, exposing special interests that we believe are detrimental to the common good, environmental stewardship, political accountability, and promoting independent third party platforms and candidates to help undo the status quo of the US political duopoly.
