SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) - An investigator with the San Francisco
Medical Examiner's Office released the identity today of a 14-year-old
boy who died Wednesday after being shot Tuesday in the Bayview-Hunters
Point neighborhood.
Kenneth Robinson, of San Francisco, was shot Tuesday around 1:18
p.m. near the intersection of Middlepoint and West Point roads,
according to Investigator A. Pringle of the medical examiner's
office and San Francisco Police Sgt. Steve Mannina.
The boy was taken to San Francisco General Hospital but he succumbed
to his injury Wednesday, Mannina said.
A second 14-year-old boy is in custody and police are taking
care to determine whether the shooting was deliberate or if the
boys had been handling the gun carelessly. Mannina stressed that
the boy was not under arrest.
According to Mannina, one of the boys found the gun outside his
house Monday. On Tuesday, he and the other boy were "handling"
a firearm before the shooting.
The area where the shooting occurred has been marred by violence
in the last year. It has been the scene of at least two homicides
and several more shootings.
