Football fan falls to death at 49ers game

A football fan died today at the San Francisco 49ers game at Monster Park after falling 20 feet from an upper concourse level ramp, police said.

The 31-year-old man took a break from the game with about 2:30 left in the first half and went to the exterior of the stadium to hang out on a ramp between sections 7 and 5, said San Francisco police Sgt. Neville Gittens.

Police said he climbed up to sit on a ramp wall but misjudged the wall and plummeted 20 feet to the mezzanine level, landing on his head.

Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene, Gittens said. The man has not yet been identified, but he is not a San Francisco resident, Gittens said.
