Veteran Bay Area news anchor Pete Wilson, 62, has died, according to KGO-TV, ABC-7's official Web site.

Wilson died Friday evening from a massive heart attack suffered during hip replacement surgery at Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto, according to KGO-TV, ABC-7.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra, and son, Brendan.
