SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) - The San Francisco 2016 Olympics
bid committee announced today that it will no longer remain in
the competition to host the 2016 Olympic Games following the decision
last week by the co-owner of the San Francisco 49ers to withdraw
from stadium negotiations with the city.
John York announced late Wednesday that he plans to move the
team's stadium to Santa Clara.
Scott Givens, managing director and CEO of the committee, said
today, "Damage has been done, and damage cannot be pulled
back."
San Francisco was competing with other U.S. cities to be selected
by the U.S. Olympics Committee for the international competition
to host the 2016 games.
