Sue Bierman memorial service set September 3

Memorial services for San Francisco Port Commissioner Sue Bierman will be held September 3.

The public is invited to a remembrance scheduled at Delancey Street, 600 Embarcadero, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 3, 2006.

As a neighborhood activist, Bierman fought freeway construction in the panhandle area of District 5 in the 1950s and remained in public service for decades.

She served on the San Francisco Planning Commission, on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, and was a sitting member of the San Francisco Port Commission at the time of her death.
