SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) -- Public transportation schedules
are being adjusted and streets are being blocked off to accommodate
revelers attending this weekend's Chinese New Year street fair
and parade in San Francisco.
Street closures began Friday night at 11 p.m. and will end Sunday
at 11 p.m. The street fair is being held: on Grant Avenue between
California Street and Broadway, Pacific Avenue between Stockton
Street and Columbus Avenue, and Jackson between Stockton and Kearny
streets, according to the Municipal Transportation Agency.
The parade begins at 5:30 p.m. Saturday and ends around 8:30
p.m. Streets along the parade route will be closed to vehicles
beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday. These closures include sections
of: Market, Second, Geary, Powell, Post and Kearny streets, as
well as sections of Columbus Avenue, the MTA reported.
More than 20 Muni lines will be affected by the parade, beginning
around 3 p.m. Saturday. More information on Muni service can be
found on Muni's Web site at http://www.sfmuni.com
BART will run longer trains to and from San Francisco beginning
mid-afternoon on Saturday. BART riders should exit at the Montgomery
