Domestic partners should file as singles, says IRS

California's registered domestic partners should report their pay on federal tax forms the way single people do, the San Jose Mercury reported today.

The Internal Revenue Service issued a guideline clarification Monday following Friday publication of a Mercury story highlighting confusion on the issue.
