Innocent until proven guilty
Fog City Editorial
June 22, 2007
We at Fog City Journal have no reason to believe Mayor Gavin
Newsom has a cocaine problem, or that he has ever used cocaine
in the past. Quite frankly, we don't care what the mayor does
in his spare time as long as he can do the job of being mayor.
What we do care about is that we can trust our mayor.
Newsom has pointedly
denied all rumors of alleged cocaine use and we must assume
he is being honest and truthful. After all, one is innocent until
proven guilty and we all know how the rumor mill works. Rumors
are often circulated to defame opponents for political gain, and
are an unfortunate inescapable ugly fact of political life. One
only has to read political chat boards to know how cowards use
the cloak of anonymity to attack their adversaries.
However, in light of numerous rumors and allegations of our mayor's
past cocaine use, Fog City Journal would like to hear from anyone
who has witnessed the mayor using cocaine, or witnessed the mayor
purchasing cocaine since he has been an elected official.
If an elected official has blatanty lied to the electorate, voters
have a right to know.
All correspondence will be treated in the strictest of confidence.
We reserve the right to verify any and all claims with the assurance
that names will not be mentioned, or published, for your protection.
We only seek to publish accounts that we have verified and are
one hundred percent satisfied are true.
If we do not hear from anyone within 14 days, we will publish
that we have not heard from anyone and assume, as we must do now,
that all allegations relating to Newsom and cocaine use are false
and ill conceived.
