A coastal flood watch for the North Bay and San Francisco Peninsula
coasts will be in effect Monday morning, the National Weather
Service reported.
A coastal flood watch means that conditions favorable for flooding
are expected to develop, according to the weather service. Coastal
residents should be alert for later statements or warnings.
The weather service has also scheduled a high wind watch for
the North Bay, East Bay and Santa Clara valleys beginning Monday
night.
In addition to the coastal flood and high wind watches, the weather
service reported that a high-surf advisory will go into effect
at 6 p.m. today and remain in place until 6 a.m. Tuesday.
A powerful winter storm is expected to hit northern California
today, generating 18-foot swells at its peak Monday, according
to the weather service.
