MUNI warns Union Square anti-Bush rally may close
streets Tuesday

SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) -- Traffic and public transit in San
Francisco's Union Square may be affected tonight by a rally protesting
the policies of the Bush administration, according to the San
Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency.
The national group World Can't Wait will hold a rally tonight
in Union Square to coincide with President Bush's State of the
Union address. The rally, which begins at 5 p.m., may be followed
by a march to Powell and Market streets.
Post Street and Powell Street near Union Square are expected
to be completely closed to traffic. The north side traffic lane
of Geary Street near the square is expected to be closed, as is
the west side traffic lane of Stockton Street near the square,
according to the MTA.
The following Muni lines may also be affected by the rally: No.
2 Clement, No. 3 Jackson, No. 4 Sutter, No. 9X San Bruno Express,
No. 30 Stockton, No. 38 Geary, No. 38L Geary Limited, and No.
45 Union-Stockton. The Powell Street cable car lines may also
be affected.
