Supervisors approve San Francisco bus shelter smoking
ban

The San Francisco Board of Supervisors voted 9-2 yesterday to
ban smoking in public transit stops and shelters. They will have
to vote on the matter once more before the prohibition will go
into effect.
The board also discussed amending the county health code to prohibit
smoking on golf courses. The current section of the health code
that prohibits smoking in many public places specifically excludes
golf courses.
The amendment would amount to an omission of the line excluding
golf courses from the health code.
It was, however, determined that the prohibition would have a
fiscal impact and the matter was referred to the budget and finance
committee for further review.
