SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) -- A host of events, including St.
Patrick's Day celebrations, the Emerald Across the Bay 12K road
race and an anti-war protest, will prompt the closure of multiple
San Francisco streets and the re-routing of several San Francisco
Municipal Railway lines this weekend, the Municipal Transportation
Agency reports.
Today, St. Patrick's Day celebrations at the bar Royal Exchange
will close portions of California and Sacramento streets, and
festivities at the bar Irish Bank will close Green Street between
Columbus and Powell streets.
Maiden Lane between Stockton and Kearny streets will be closed
on Saturday for an art show by the Artists Guild of San Francisco,
the MTA reported.
Saturday's march in Civic Center Plaza to protest the war in
Iraq will affect multiple Muni lines, according to the MTA. And
Sunday's Emerald Across the Bay 12K race will affect Muni bus
line No. 19.
Also this Saturday, the No. 15-Third Street Muni line will be
re-routed because of construction on the Islais Creek Bridge.
The No. 15 line will be re-routed between 7 p.m. Saturday and
5 p.m. Sunday.
Construction work on the Islais Creek Bridge will also prompt
the closure of Third Street between Cesar Chavez Street and Cargo
Way beginning at 7 p.m. on Monday. The Third Street closure will
last from 7 p.m. through 5 a.m. until March 26, according to the
MTA.
The MTA encourages travelers to utilize public transportation
and allow extra time for arriving at their destination this weekend.
