San Francisco teachers march
on Board of Education Tuesday
From the United Educators of San Francisco Union
February 27, 2006
On Tuesday, February, San Francisco teachers and paraprofessionals
will march on the Board of Education to demand a fair contract.
The march will start at 6:45 p.m. at John Swett Elementary School
(727 Golden Gate Ave.) and will finish at Board of Education HQ.
It will follow a closed membership meeting, where teachers will
be discussing the recent mediation session.
UESF will make a statement Tuesday about the results from the
first mediation session with the district at district headquarters.
The meeting took place all-day on Friday, February 24.
With no raise in nearly four years, the major sticking point
for the teachers is the issue of fair pay. But issues of school
safety, and the contractual rights of paraprofessionals (teachers'
aides) are also points of contention.
