An inside look at San Francisco's cultural panorama captured
in a selection of photographs by Sentinel Editor-In-Chief Luke
Thomas will be guided by television personality Arthur Bruzzone
tonight.
Bruzzone, a decades-long fixture in San Francisco commentary,
introduces Thomas and his work on "San
Francisco/ unscripted" at 7:30 p.m. this evening on Comcast
Channel 11.
The program will be repeated Thursday at 6:30 p.m., Friday at
8:00 p.m., and Saturday at 8:30 p.m.
In Marin Country, the program will air at 8:00 p.m. on Channel
26.
Thomas mixes memorable imagery from a sojourn across South East
Asia with imagery from San Francisco's political scene.
Thomas, a native of London, England, with a 20 year background
in computer programming, emigrated to the United States in 1984
and was naturalized as a US Citizen on 9/11.
"It was an ominous day to be naturalized on 9/11, one of
the most tragic days in US history, but in an odd way strengthened
my resolve to switch careers and enter into the exciting field
of documentary photography and photojournalism," Thomas opined.
The San Francisco community is the life of the City and it is
from there that "San Francisco/ unscripted" draws its
guests, Bruzzone describes the show.
"We believe that a city -- especially San Francisco ---
is sum of its personalities (and sometimes, leaders.) So the program
features the leaders (occasionally) and personalities from the
community," Bruzzone stated.
"We consider 'San Francisco/ unscripted' a televised conversation,
freed, as much as possible, from stifling, stilted, political
correctness.
"Our tone avoids offensive barbs, and hopefully boring cliches.
Honest and open questions, and hopefully, honest and open answers.
"We conduct our conversation without "heat". Of
course, our previous program, the award-winning "SF/Politics"
championed televised heat, long before "Hardball."
"We'll rarely interview City Hall characters; they're too
predictable --- and too slick. The Community is the life of the
City. That's where we'll draw our guests..
"We aim to entertain and educate. We believe we must enjoy
producing each conversation --- as much as viewing the final cut.
'Sentence' and 'solace," as dear Chaucer recommended,"
reflected Bruzzone.
