Building Inspections Commissioner Debra Walker today conceded defeat in the race for District 6 Supervisor.
Though the final vote tallies from the ranked-choice race have not been officially certified by the San Francisco Department of Elections, School Board President Jane Kim, a progressive, is the presumed Supervisor-elect for the District.
“It looks like the results are in and we did not win this election,” Walker, a progressive, said in an email. “But we did some amazing work together. It is my hope that we all continue the good work necessary to reach the goals we set in this campaign.”
“So join with me in congratulating our new supervisor, Jane Kim,” Walker added. “Let’s work together to forward solutions to the problems in our neighborhoods, to create the jobs and economic development, truly affordable housing, and community-centered planning that betters all of our lives. I will never forget working with you all. It has been such an inspiration and a pleasure.”

Tough loss,
for a quality person. Stearns and Haaland had her running a campaign whose style was directly opposite to Debra’s personality. They had her isolated and inflexible and she’s anything but that. It wasn’t until a couple of days before the election (after most votes had been cast) that she even asked for 2nd place votes and then she still didn’t endorse anyone second or third.
Let’s see how badly they can screw up Leland Yee’s campaign now. At least in this instance I don’t like the person running (he spent his last couple of years on the BOS as Willie’s errand boy).
Go Niners!
