A Call for Video Submissions for the Roast of Chris Daly.

As you may have seen, several local “celebrities” are set to roast me on January 5th. Even though I’ve never heard of any of them, I have been promised by a cabal of political insiders that this line-up is going to be super-funny.

But after 10 years in City Hall, I know when I’m being sold a bill of goods. I remember when they told me that my life would be easier once elected. It wasn’t. I was encouraged to always vote my conscience — that really worked out well for me. And earlier this year, I was even promised a job in the LG’s office in exchange for my endorsement. But now Gavin won’t return my calls.

So, the PR people are calling this Roast an “only in San Francisco” event! It’s true that San Franciscans love all things San Francisco, but “only in San Francisco” could you assemble a dais with such little talent. LA or Vegas wouldn’t even book you a room for this gig.

Come on now — Melissa Griffin and Beth Spotswood? Have you seen their crap?

Johnny Burton? Aaron Peskin? When was the last time either one of these guys was relevant?

Carolyn Tyler? Dan Noyes? What, was Cheryl Jennings already booked?

That’s why I’m opening up my Roast to you. I know that the people are funnier than politicians. So please hit me with your best shot. It may be the only way I actually get to see some stars. And don’t forget to roast our “celebrity” panel and anyone else in the public eye — we’re all fair game.

Send your video submission to dalyroast@gmail.com – we’ll post them on our YouTube channel for all to enjoy. The winning entry will be shown at the roast, where you’ll receive VIP treatment. Video submissions should be less than 3-minutes and must be made by December 31st to be considered. Videos that have good audio and picture quality are more likely to be selected.

Let’s get roasting!

Chris

  1. @George – last I checked the Facebook event page, Eric Jaye was RSVP’ed, so you probably have sufficient cover. That is, unless you submit a winning video and make the stage…

  2. Chris, I honestly want to come to your roast and have fun and say outrageous things about you. But I’m seriously concerned that I might not be welcome because, you know, for these past ten years I haven’t exactly kissed your ass the way you expect constituents to do. If I show up with my $20 in hand will I be admitted or will I have to run the progressive gauntlet and risk my cigar being stolen?

  3. Even though I really admire the contributions you have made, I am avoiding public political involvement not to mention the trouble I would cause what I might say to some of the attendees. Best, Mark Barnes

  5. I wanted to publish this call on Fog City, because it stands here as a direct challenge to the likes of Arthur Evans. Enough of your sniper attacks in this space, Arthur. Here’s your chance to bring it, if you dare.
