You may have to add former District 6 Supervisor and progressive watering hole proprietor, Chris Daly, to the list of possible District 5 Supervisor candidates. It’s not out of the question that the newly formed Redistricting Task Force extends D5 to include his address, as D6 has seen much of the City’s population growth.
According to Daly, who resides a stone’s throw away from the District 6/5 border at the intersection of Stevenson and McCoppin streets, he will consider a run for the D5 seat next year should Ross Mirkarimi and Ed Lee, who is expected to declare his candidacy tomorrow, win their respective races for sheriff and mayor in November.
“I’d only consider running against an appointed incumbent with tendencies toward downtown,” Daly told FCJ.
Though Daly did not mention any names as potential D5 mayoral appointee targets, several names have been mentioned as possible D5 appointees. Planning Commissioner Christine Olague, who co-chaired the “Run, Ed, Run” campaign, would be a likely Lee consideration. Community activist London Breed, an ally of former Mayor Willie Brown, could also be in the running for the appointment.

From an opinion rendered by the City Attorney 1/9/12:
“We conclude that, under the Charter, no person can serve on the Board–in any seat–for more than two consecutive four-year terms. And after serving on the Board for two successive four-year terms, th Supervisor must wait another four years before again taking office as a member of the Board representing *any* district.” (emphasis in original)
Buh-bye Chris!! See you in 2016!! Don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.
