Just to be clear…

I am having a little difficulty grasping what the term “San Francisco” values means. I thought I knew…I hope I know…I hope I am right.

To me, a person with “liberal” San Francisco values would be in favor of impeaching George Bush and Dick Cheney in defense of the Constitution and as justice for the millions of people who have been killed or displaced (Iraq, Afghanistan, Gulf States) because of their lies and crimes. (Not take impeachment “off the table.”)

To me, a person with liberal SF values would be against the use of torture. (Not support the regime’s barbaric policies)

To me, a person with liberal SF values would be against wars that have killed/displaced millions of people. (Not fully funding/voting for them)

To me, a person with liberal SF values would be for schools that are fully funded with low student/teacher ratios that teach the fundamentals AND art, music, drama and other fine arts or electives. (Not be for the regime’s No Child Left Behind Act that is systematically destroying public education)

To me, a person with liberal SF values would be against spying on people’s emails and phone calls without a warrant. (Not give the regime/telecom companies immunity from breaking FISA laws and the 4th Amendment)

To me, a person with liberal SF values would want to see a living wage paid, not minimum wage servitude. (Not support “free” trade agreements and thinking that raising the Federal minimum wage a few measly cents is a victory)

To me, a person with liberal SF values would not ignore the abominable homeless situation here on our streets, but would want policies that worked for economic security; shelter, food, healthcare, and education for all, not just for the plutocracy. (Not bailout Wall Street corporate pirates and banksters to the tune of over one trillion of our tax dollars)

To me, a person with liberal SF values would care more about the people afflicted with environmental ailments in Bayview/Hunter’s point and not with building a stadium out there that few want, not even the team. (Not getting Federal money to clean up a parcel of the shipyard for the 49ers while the citizens of Bayview are suffering from cancers and lung disorders)

To me, a person with liberal SF values would be adamantly OPPOSED to a bailout of the banksters and Wall Street welfare barons and FOR a bailout of our families, small businesses and communities. (Not for owning massive amounts of stock in a company, AIG, that has received over 100 billion dollars in government welfare).

To me, a person with liberal SF values would NOT be for offshore drilling or the use of fossil fuels (Not for allowing the ban on offshore drilling to expire or investing in natural gas)

I am the candidate for Congress here in California’s 8th District that reflects and resonates with these progressive values.

Nancy Pelosi is the candidate who exemplifies everything that is wrong with our country today. She has supported George Bush in everything he has asked for, while refusing to hold him accountable for crimes against humanity and our Constitution. Nancy Pelosi’s personal profit profile, which is public record, is filled withf investments in companies that have directly benefited from her votes and legislation: telecom companies,  big-pharma, real estate investment companies, AIG, etc. Nancy Pelosi used to stand for SF values but has now become more crooked than Lombard St.

  1. There are many good reasons to be upset with Nancy Pelosi: single-handedly blocking the impeachment of Bush and Cheney; funding the war instead of ending it; warrantless wiretapping; off-shore drilling; the Wall Street bailout…

But perhaps the most disturbing, the most damning, and the one reason that might explain WHY Pelosi has jumped into bed with the Bush administration, is the torture saga. By now, anyone plugged into the internet knows the bare bones of the story:

    — In September, 2002, the CIA briefed a select group of four Congressional leaders on the CIA’s secret global prison system and use of torture. News of this briefing was kept secret for five years, until Dec 9, 2007, when the Washington Post (and others) reported it. The Post reported that Nancy Pelosi was one of the select Congress members, and according to the Post, “The reaction in the room was not just approval, but encouragement…. at least two lawmakers in the room asked the CIA to push harder.”

    — So Pelosi knew about torture in 2002, and had no problems with it. It now seems apparent to many members of the impeachment movement that, sometime after the CIA briefing, Pelosi realized that her acquiescence on torture cost her any presumed moral stature, and had robbed her of any ability to challenge Bush and Cheney on anything, including funding for the Iraq war. If Pelosi were to have joined those calling for Bush and Cheney to be held accountable for, to be formally impeached for, the many, many crimes with which they have been accused, Bush and Cheney could, quite fairly, say, “Too late, Pelosi! We told you all about our torture programs way back in 2002, and you gave a big thumbs-up — if we’re impeachable, YOU’RE impeachable!”

    — In 2006, with the coveted Speakership of the House dangling almost within her grasp, many believe that Pelosi probably saw that her only available option was to go along: “Forget truth and accountability. Forget right and wrong. Win the 2006 election. Get the speakership. Don’t challenge Bush and Cheney on anything — just wait ‘em out. In 2008, the Democrats will win Congress AND the White House, and my part in this torture business will have been long forgotten.”

Does this sound like a woman who deserves to be sent back to represent San Francisco?

Pelosi needs to be defeated, and Cindy Sheehan is on track to accomplish just that.

  2. With all due respect Dalysux,

Cindy Sheehan certainly knows more about this city, from the point of view that needs to be known. The Pelosi supporters, or either party supporters for that matter, like to paint Cindy with the same rhetoric you are spewing here.

The funny thing is Cindy isn’t left or right. She isn’t stupid enough to allow herself to be divided by labels. She is smart enough to have her eyes open to the real problems in San Francisco, and not have them dictated to her by a party’s opinion.

By not wanting to hear Cindy’s take on San Franciscan values, I suppose you like the fact that our rights have been eroded. You’d rather see more people die for a war started on lies? You want to debate values? I suppose sitting on your butt spitting such vitriol from a dark and angry corner of cyberspace is sufficient enough for political discourse.

Your “Shut up” and your reference to Terry Schivo, were quite parliamentary Sir, or Ma’am! I’m sure your values are far superior to Cindy’s.

Please don’t assume to know what Cindy for Congress campaign is about due to the fact that you read some internet rags. “Conspiracy theory”, nice! Ad homonym attack is sophomoric in debate, but I’ll bite. Other than your web rags, on what authority can you assume the campaign’s funds are not being spent on? Have you even checked? They are a matter of public record after all.If you did you could see the campaign does not own the FCJ! You were obviously wrong on FCJ not printing your reply too, however you can be sure that Cindy’s opponent owns a few things here in San Francisco. Pelosi has raised 2.5 million this year. She has approximately 36 million in personal assets. After all she helped push a bailout through that pumped over a HUNDRED BILLION of your tax money into one of her own Investment’s. (AIG stock) I’d figure that tickle your sense of values more. I guess not though.

Cindy has been a resident of the state of California for 13 years. Pelosi is a real Carpetbagger, hailing all the way from Baltimore 20 years ago. She really got to know your town. She sells it out daily. I suppose her silver spoon qualifies her more to represent your values? You give her a chance, or you can’t beat her at the Polls for all your typed foam about the mouth about “THE LEFT!”

No Freedom of Speech on the left? Have you seen a free speech zone lately? Have you heard Cindy Speak publicly? Some of her critiques say she speaks too freely! You’re the one shouting “Shut Up” so let’s not bring up free speech, ok?

In closing I have got to ask.

You hung out with Stalin? Cool!

  3. With all due respect, Ms. Sheehan, I don’t need you to tell me what is SF values. The fact that you ripped on Lombard Street (which you’ve probably never walked) just says it all. Shut the hell up.

Go back to Fairfield or wherever you’re from, and stop screwing around in my City with your nonsense conspiracy theories. I’m sure FCJ won’t dare print my comment since they’re in the pocket of your $500,000 campaign that takes lots of activist money and yet can’t account for it, but what you don’t know about my city can fill a warehouse.

You’re the Terry Schiavo of the Left. Only you’re still walking. And you’re not for freedom of speech because the Left in this town hates anyone who speaks one word against their politically correct views. Stalin would have loved you!
