By golly, don’t know how this happened, but somehow we overlooked endorsing Supervisor Gerardo Sandoval for judge when we compiled Fog City Journal’s premier endorsements earlier this week.
He’s running against incumbent Judge Thomas Mellon, a Republican, who was appointed by Governor Pete Wilson in 1994.
Sandoval, who terms out of office this year, cited a “lack of diversity on the bench” when he announced in January he would challenge Mellon.
Though his votes on the Board of Supervisors have on occasion raised some eyebrows, overall Sandoval has been a solid defender of Progressive values which has earned him our endorsement for judge.

Sandoval was rated as not qualified by the S.F. Bar Association.
Judge Mellon was rated qualified and is endorsed by 5 judges of the California Supreme Court and 13 judges of of the California Court of Appeals.
The choice is between an unqualified judge, bound to have lots of cases reversed, but with a “D” after his name or a qualified judge with an “R” after his name. Politics has no place in judicial races.

I just saw this on Sweet Melissa

He is NOT qualified and if we judge by this, I suspect his thinking is at times a bit illogical.

Sandoval was a rotten Supervisor with his hand out palm up. As a judge the opportunities abound. Sandoval’s lack of credentials to be a Superior Court Judge equate to those of Palin as VP.
