A 40-year-old man turned himself in to authorities after he struck a bicyclist at the intersection of Market and Octavia streets late Sunday night and allegedly fled the scene of the accident, police said today.
A 27-year-old San Francisco woman was riding eastbound on Market Street with a small dog at 11:53 p.m. when she was struck by the vehicle, which was traveling southbound on Octavia Street, Sgt. Neville Gittens said.
The woman suffered life-threatening injuries and the dog was killed, according to Gittens.
The suspect, identified as Tom Moulas, of San Francisco, allegedly fled the scene of the crash. At about 2 a.m. today, Moulas turned himself in to the Police Department’s Southern Station, Gittens said.
Moulas was booked on charges of felony hit and run, according to Gittens.
