The victim of a fatal shooting on Interstate Highway 280 in San Francisco yestereve had two children in the vehicle during the incident, according to police.
When CHP officers arrived, they found the driver dead with an 8-year-old and a 7-year-old in the vehicle. Both children were uninjured, according to Police Sgt. Neville Gittens.
Gittens said it is believed the victim’s car, a 2004 burgundy Honda, was driving to the left of the suspect vehicle and that shots were fired from the suspect vehicle’s driver’s side into the victim vehicle’s passenger side.
The victim’s vehicle then crashed into the center divide before drifting across the lanes and stopping in some ivy on the shoulder, Gittens said.
According to California Highway Patrol Officer Shawn Chase, the shooting was reported around 6 p.m. between the Alemany Boulevard and Monterey Boulevard exits and shut down southbound traffic for nearly three hours.
