SFPD inspector reported to Police Chief for belligerence and disrespecting committee
SFPD Inspector David Falzone, who acted in a manner unbecoming of a police officer during a Land Use Committee hearing yesterday, has been reported to Police Chief Heather Fong.
Falzone continued to interrupt Supervisor Sophie Maxwell as she was attempting to understand why police are refusing to cite store owners for blocking visual access to their stores. State and local safety laws require store owners to keep their store windows free of obstructions, obstructions that could prevent patrons from knowing if the store is in the process of being robbed.
According to reliable sources, Falzone, after the hearing was over, mumbled some unsavory words while slamming the door behind him as he left the hearing.
Fong confirmed to Fog City Journal today that her office has received a formal complaint about Falzone’s behavior and is “looking into the matter.”
Mirkarimi sunshine/transparency ordinance passes
An ordinance that would expand City Hall transparency and sunshine passed 7-3 today during the weekly Board of Supervisors meeting. The legislation, sponsored by Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi and co-sponsored by Supervisors Tom Ammiano and Chris Daly, requires all meetings at City Hall to be audio or video recorded and made available on the City’s website.
Supervisors Sean Elsbernd, Carmen Chu and Michela Alioto-Pier voted against the ordinance.
Supervisor Sophie Maxwell, who last week cast a dissenting a vote, voted in favor of the legislation today.
Supervisor Jake McGoldrick, who also cast a dissenting vote last week, was absent from today’s proceedings.
Julio Ramos declares intent to “carpetbag” District 11 Supervisor race
College Board Trustee Julio Ramos has declared his intent to run for District 11 Supervisor. Ramos, according to reliable sources, owns a house in District 11 but does not live there.
“The house is still empty,” a source confirmed to Fog City Journal. “He (Ramos) is clearly carpetbagging the race.”
