Daly has maintained that he continues to reside at the couple’s condominium on Stevenson Street in San Francisco, where he has lived since Nov. 2001. His wife and two children recently relocated to Fairfield.
Under terms of the agreement signed by Mirant officials today, the company will also pay at least $1 million to the City to help address pediatric asthma in nearby communities and to initiate other mitigations in neighborhoods adjacent to the fossil-fueled facility. Mirant will pay another $100,000 to the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office for legal fees and costs.
The earlier influence of fundamentalist Rabbi Abraham Kook (1865 – 1935), or Kuk, was significant. He preached Jewish supremacy and said: “The difference between a Jewish soul and souls of non-Jews – all of them in all different levels – is greater and deeper than the difference between a human soul and the souls of cattle.” His teachings helped create the settler movement, and his son, Rabbi Tzvi Yehuda Kook, founded the extremist Gush Emunim (GE) under the slogan: “The Land of Israel, for the people of Israel, according to the Torah of Israel.”
Ensuring the public’s safe transport has to be MUNI’s number one priority. As an elected official I am committed to doing whatever is in my power to protect the public. As a member of the Transportation Authority I have the duty to question the safety of a system that has had two serious accidents in little more than two weeks. I will continue to work with my colleagues on the Board of Supervisors and Transportation Authority and with MUNI officials to make sure that the causes of these accidents are investigated, the problems addressed and public safety ensured.
Over the last 10 years, I have been involved in the City’s budget process, first as the organizing director of Coleman Advocates for Children and Youth, then as staff for Supervisor Chris Daly, where I organized year after year with budget stakeholders to create a budget that represented the interests of working people. These experiences have been invaluable in learning the intricate City budget process and, most importantly, the politically challenging but all-important process of coalition building among the different budget stakeholders in the City.
The Irish American Democratic Club is one of the largest political clubs in The City and takes its role as the voice of the Irish in San Francisco politics very seriously. Since the club’s foundation, it has been consistently committed to the peaceful unification of Ireland.
