Though the final vote tallies from the ranked-choice race have not been officially certified by the San Francisco Department of Elections, Scott Wiener, a moderate, is the presumed Supervisor-elect for the District.
Dubbed “Healthy Food Incentives Ordinance,” the legislation requires restaurants and fast-food chains to discontinue using toys as a marketing ploy to induce children to consume unhealthy foods. Instead, the legislation mandates toys can only be used as an inducement to purchase healthy foods.

The convention program included entertainment from SRO tenants, speeches from TURN Executive Director Mark Toney, Shaw and Daly, an awards ceremony led by CSCC Executive Director Jeff Buckley, and workshop sessions dealing with bed bugs, tenants’ rights, neighborhood issues, drug overdose prevention and mental health issues.

Set against a backdrop of dozens of green and yellow ‘No on L’ signs on the corner of Mission and 16th streets, Talen and the Life After Shopping Gospel Choir sang a rendition of the First Amendment before Talen began a short sermon denouncing what he called fundamentalism and a paranoia of fear.
