Americans love their guns. In fact, in many states it is legal to carry a concealed weapon on private property, including places of work and worship.
In this violent nation of ours, there seems to be a disconnect between our Second Amendment “right to keep and bear arms” and the number of mass killings in this country.
Aaron Alexis, a former Navy reservist, killed 12 people at the Washington, D.C. Navy Yard, September 16. Alexis was shot to death by police. Already there are renewed calls for gun control legislation, which will undoubtedly fall on deaf ears.
Failed gun control legislation has again fallen victim to the tyranny of the minority. Legislation strengthening background checks – supported by 90 percent of Americans – has been defeated in the U.S. Senate 54 to 46.
